Spotlight on Marketing

If you’re considering going into the marketing field, take note that all things marketing come under the spotlight in the next few weeks with the annual Marketing Indaba Conference being held in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. This popular conference serves to inspire and inform the marketing and communication industry and shed light on what marketing is all about.

Further good news is that though we are heading for the second half of the year, you can still enrol for a sought-after qualification like the BCom degree in Management Marketing offered by Boston City Campus & Business College. Applications are now open and classes will kick off in July.
“This is for students that did not enrol for studies in the first semester,” explains Natalie Rabson of Boston City Campus & Business College. “They do not have to wait until next year, but can rather enrol now for the degree and not lose any time. It is the wonderful advantage of modular studies that we have nowadays, but of course numbers are limited for the second semester intake and students have to hurry up if they want to apply.”

Launched in 2012 Boston’s BCom in Management Marketing degree equips students with the knowledge and skills for career opportunities and advancement in the fields of business, management and marketing, focusing on digital marketing, social media and brand management - all buzzwords in the marketing field of today.

The degree makes provision for the latest marketing trends and includes modules such as business management, financial management, entrepreneurship, company law, economics, computer literacy, marketing/brand management, industrial psychology and project management. Rabson points out that the degree is an excellent option available to those who have not yet registered for tertiary studies and wish to obtain a work integrated BCom degree with high market value.

“Another great benefit of doing the BCom Management Marketing is that you can choose your mode of study,” she adds. “Boston offers outstanding industry and academic study guides, and an e-learning education platform that enables assignments to be submitted electronically. We can accommodate both full time and employed part time students at various tuition centres nationwide Our state of the art tuition centres provide computer and Internet access to optimise our students learning and teaching experiences, whilst providing structured support and guidance.”
The BCom in Management Marketing is an HEQC and DHET accredited course. The minimum entry requirement is a National Senior Certificate with degree entry while mature students may apply for RPL entry  - within specified HESA conditions.

The degree opens doors to career opportunities in the fields of business, management and marketing such as:
·     general manager; marketing manager; and brand manager
·     Customer relationship manager, key account manager
·     Marketing, brand and/or product researcher and/or analyst
·     Service, sales or product representative and/or manager
·     Business, marketing, brand or PR advisor
·     Media and/or advertising consultant

“A degree is a certain advantage in creating a better life for you and your family,” says Rabson. “The course content as well as the flexibility it offers individuals, makes the BCom Management Marketing an increasingly popular choice with students. Regardless of whether the economy is experiencing growth or not, qualified entrepreneurs, marketers and managers are always needed in order to promote existing and new products and services.  With the global and local economy still in the midst of one of its most challenging periods this is even more challenging and relevant.”
